Advice on Building a Team

How to put together your team:

Tell your manager

This is an important step as there is an entrance fee which we suggest you ask them to pay for you. Their support will help you find team members (see below) and give you advice. It is also great to have them acknowledge your achievements.

Look within your company

Think about who works in your company who is under 30. You need to get a diverse set of skills so creating an entire team from within one company only really works if you are part of a multi-disciplinary organisation. Ask your manager to put you in touch with other areas of the organisation.

Who do you work with?

Contact architects, designers, engineers, contractors or surveyors in companies who your firm regularly deal with. This is a fantastic chance to improve your contacts. Ask your manager to suggest companies that they think would like to enter with you. Most teams at least find their architect this way, if not more.

Ask us for help

If you exhaust all your options and are still short of members do get in touch with us at Teambuild. We often get individuals expressing an interest in entering but who cannot put together a team. They might be the missing piece of your jigsaw!

Just remember that the challenges of the Teambuild competition require the whole breadth of skills that you would find in the construction industry so think carefully about who you put in your team. Good luck!
